The National Business and Technical Examinations Board has said 33,712 candidates, out of a total of 57,387 candidates, who sat for the May/June 2017 examination, made five credits and above, including English Language and Mathematics.

The Registrar and Chief Executive of the board, Prof. Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe, who disclosed this on Tuesday while announcing the release of the results in Benin, said that the figure represented  58.75 per cent of the total number of candidates.

Isuigo-Abanihe explained that 47,360 candidates scored five credits and above with or without English Language and Mathematics, representing 82.53 per cent in the National Business Certificate/National Technical Certificate examinations.

According to her, the board recorded a decrease in examination malpractice with  1,905 persons involved, as against the 2,273 cases it recorded in the previous year.

The registrar stated that though a total of 58,448 candidates enrolled for the examinations in 1,458 centers, only 57,387 candidates sat for the examinations, representing 98.18 per cent of the total enrolment.Punch
