Wahala! Rowdy session in Reps over new constitution provisions

Members of the House of Representatives are right now disagreeing over the procedure for considering new constitutional provisions.

Two Osun lawmakers, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Yussuff Lasun, and Prof. Mojeed Alabi, are at the centre of contesting the procedure, while the Speaker, Mr. Yakubu Dogara, is presiding.

Alabi was later overruled by the Speaker who referred him to the House rules for proposed guidance.

“Prof, you are completely out of order”, Dogara told him.

Members agreed with Dogara, following which Alabi resumed his seat.

Lasun, who is the Chairman, House Ad Hoc Committee on Constitution Review, was asked to continue with the presentation of the highlights of the proposals.

Members later resumed voting on the new amendments.
