Edo Royal Friends donates to school

A Pan Edo socio-cultural club Edo Royal Friends with headquarters in Lagos recently reached out to schools in Edo state, as part of its philanthropic activities and gesture to assist indigent students. The club led by its president, Mr. Felix Osadiaye, donated over 10,000 branded exercise books to Ore-oghene Primary School, in Benin City, Edo state capital

According to Osadiaye, the major reason behind the gesture is to promote education and ensure that the less privileged have access to quality education with qualitative educational aids and materials. He stressed that, the club which comprise of indigenes of Edo state largely based in Lagos and the Diaspora has as one of its cardinal objectives to promote Edo Culture and values through qualitative education. Although, he mentioned that the exercise books distribution is just a token but a symbolic gesture aimed at encouraging the less privileged in our midst.

In addition, he noted that apart from such contributions, the club also visits orphanages to assist the motherless babies as part of its end of year activities.

While receiving the exercise books on behalf of the school, the Head mistress, Mrs. Ovbiagele thanked Edo Royal Friends for its good gesture and promised that the books will be properly utilised by the pupils. She proudly informed the gathering that the school has produced several students who have distinguished themselves in various professional fields. She disclosed that pupils from the school won scholarship to study at Edo College, Benin City. She noted that this is the first time the school is receiving such gifts and assistance since its creation in 1928.

Others present at the occasion included the representative of the commissioner for Education in the state, Mrs. Juluiana Ehigiator and some executive members of the club and staff members of the primary school.
