Abia PDP to Ikpeazu: No automatic ticket for you in 2019

The State Working Committee (SWC) of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia said there would be no automatic ticket for Gov. Okezie Ikpeazu in the 2019 general elections.

The state chairman of the party, Chief Johnson Onuigbo disclosed this to newsmen on Thursday after a meeting of the committee in Umuahia. Onuigbo, however, said that the committee passed a “vote of implicit confidence” on the governor. Onuigbo, however, said that the committee passed a “vote of implicit confidence” on the governor. Reading a seven-point communique from the meeting, the chairman said that the confidence vote was in recognition of the governor’s “excellent performances so far.” He said that the SWC resolved “to do away with all manner of imposition and impunity” and provide a level playing field “for all the aspirants, irrespective of position.”

Onuigbo said that the SWC declared “all offices for 2019 general elections open, in line with the Abia Charter of Equity and PDP zoning formula.” He urged all the party faithful “to remain loyal, steadfast and have confidence in the leadership of the party.” The  SWC also passed vote of implicit confidence on Onuigbo “for transparency and effective leadership’’. It would be recalled that the party zoned the governorship slot to Abia South Senatorial District, where Ilpeazu hails from. ing, the chairman said that the confidence vote was in recognition of the governor’s “excellent performances so far.” He said that the SWC resolved “to do away with all manner of imposition and impunity” and provide a level playing field “for all the aspirants, irrespective of position.”
