The Transparency Nigeria Group (TNG) has asked the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to immediately dismiss Mr Ademola Ademise, the Chief Executive Officer of Wema Bank PLC, a tier-3 lender quoted on the Nigerian Exchange (NGX).

“The TNG believes that Mr Ademise has grossly abused his office as the chief executive officer of Wema Bank PLC and contravened several extant regulations of the Central Bank of Nigeria,” the group said in a statement signed by the Communications Director, Dahiru Mohammed.

It alleged that “under Mr Adebise’s watch, Wema Bank covered up a massive fraudulent scheme perpetrated by companies and proxies” of a prominent politician (name withheld).

“In doing this, Mr Adebise failed in his fiduciary duties and allowed a powerful politician to use Wema Bank as a clearing house for laundered funds.

“The TNG demands his immediate resignation,” the statement further said. NewsExpress
