APC Primaries: Trouble looms as APC lawmaker accused of endorsing PDP candidate

As the All Progressives Congress prepare for the forthcoming local government elections in Lagos state, lobbyists have taken over the homes of key party leaders.
More than 2000 aspirants are said to be vying for the party ticket in the 57 Local council areas.
But, some top party leaders are hell-bent on installing their lackeys – even if they are of questionable characters.
Such is the case of Ikosi-Ejinrin local council development area where the lawmaker representing the constituency at the Lagos House of Assembly is being accused by the APC Youths and Elders of trying to foist a PDP candidate in the area.
The Leaders and Youths under the aegis of “The Progressives Forum of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA”, expressed shock that the screening committee cleared Adeniyi Onanuga Samson in the last chairmanship screening exercise held on May 5th, 2017.
They accused the Lagos lawmaker of influencing the committee to favour him despite his gross disloyalty to the party in the past.
In a statement signed by six ward leaders on May the 10th, 2017, they stated that Adeniyi Samson Onanuga was suspended for gross misconduct/anti-party activities by the party state executives, legislators and the executives of Ikosi-Ejinrin LCDA in June 2011.
The youths said that, “further to this, his suspension has not been reversed therefore we hereby appeal to the concern authority that Hon. Adeniyi Samson Onanuga is not duly certified as a member of our great party and cannot be voted for according to the constitution of our great party”.
They also called on Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, state executives, party leaders especially the National leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rein-in on Honourable Olulade who boasted and promised to manipulate the primaries in favour of his own candidate(s).
The group attached copies of the suspension letter signed by the former Chairman, Honourable Adetola Olusegun as well as that of the Legislative arm’s decision to indefinitely suspend Adeniyi Samson Onanuga from office, signed by the then majority leader, Muyideen Badmus and Council clerk, S.A. Banjo.
The Progressives’ appeal to the leaders not to allow this disloyal member, because if they eventually attain any post it means the party is encouraging more anti-party activities in the future.
All efforts to reach the man at the centre of the storm, Mr. Onanuga proved abortive before going to press.
