Applause as police arrest man who kidnapped, killed 60-year-old woman in Ebonyi

The Police Command in Ebonyi State have arrested Ogonna Alioka, aka Pilot, for abducting and killing a 60-year-old woman in Ivo Local Government Area of the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Jude Madu, stated this while addressing newsmen in Abakaliki.

Madu said Alioka, who operated in Ebonyi and Abia states, abducted and killed Mrs. Catherine Okorie from Ishiagu community of the council in January.

He said the deceased was killed and buried in a shallow grave in Lokpanta, Abia, for recognising one of the kidnappers who abducted her.

“We have arrested some members of Alioka’s gang and arraigned them in court, as he had been on our wanted list before we arrested him a few days ago in Abia,” he said.

The PPRO also disclosed that the command had arrested one Gideon Omaka, released from prison custody in March, for allegedly killing one Eze Ogbonnaya during a robbery incident in Amasiri.

“We also arrested Chukwudi Nwezaku, Otu Okpara, Eze Chima, Chiadikaobi Ani, Uchechukwu Aniewo and Ozomena Obasi, over armed robbery attacks, electricity cable vandalisation, purchasing of stolen cars and unlawful possession of firearms.

“The items recovered from the suspects include; five vehicles, one tricycle, electronics, guns and live cartridges,’’ he said.

Madu said the suspects would soon be charged to court.

Alioka confessed to killing Okorie after a scuffle that ensued when she attempted to escape from his den.

“I escaped after killing the deceased to avoid arrest by the police, as her abduction was masterminded by a politician in Ishiagu,” he said. (NAN/Punch)
