Aregbesola in big trouble as Osun pensioners protest, allege diversion of Paris Club refund

Aregbesola

Hundreds of pensioners again hit the streets of Osogbo on Thursday to protest the non-payment of their pensions and gratuities.

The pensioners, who carried placards with various inscriptions, berated Governor Rauf Aregbesola for allegedly diverting various bailout funds meant for payment of salaries and for attempting to divert the N12.7bn Paris Club refund paid to the state.

The pensioners marched from Ayetoro through Old Garage and terminated the protest at Olaiya Junction.

A former Head of Service, Mr Segun Akinwusi, and some human rights activists joined the pensioners.

The protest caused a traffic snarl despite the presence of policemen to who were on ground to ensure the protest was not hijacked by hoodlums.
