Edo State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu

The Edo State Police Command has arrested two persons in connection with the death of a 39-year-old man, Okundolor Omoruyi, in the Egor Local Government Area of the state.

The command also launched a manhunt for the ex-lover of the deceased, who was said to have masterminded the attack.

It was learnt that Omoruyi was killed by assassins allegedly hired by the unidentified lady at Utagban quarters a few weeks after he arrived in Nigeria from Italy in May.

The lady was said to have allegedly contracted the assailants to kill her ex-lover for jilting her.

The Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu, who paraded the suspects, disclosed that an 18-year-old girl was also killed by the gang for allegedly recognising one of them.

One of the suspects, who identified himself as Odion Igbinogun, said he carried out the act with two other fleeing suspects whose names he gave as Power and Moses.

Odion claimed that the deceased was shot by Power as he was only asked to accompany the gang.

He explained, “My friend said I should follow them somewhere. When we got to a shop, he said I should collect the apron from the seller.

“I did not know what was in the apron. I later saw my friend bring out a gun and kill the girl. They (gang members) later said we should go to another place where we killed the man (late Omoruyi).”Punch
