Big catch! Lucky Moonluck Academy grabs Ekwueme

Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ifeanyi Ekwueme has sealed a marketing deal with Lagos based Moonluck Football Academy just as he was unveiled as the club ambassador.

Speaking during the presentation ceremony held at Moonluck Club House in Lagos, the club President and renowned sports philantropist, Chief Collins Onwuzulike disclosed to media representatives that he was very excited to grab Ekwueme while describing him as a big fish.

” Ifeanyi Ekwueme is like a big fish that has no hiding place,” Onwuzulike eulogized.

He continued: “I’m very excited to announce him as our club ambassador. Ekwueme is a well known local and international figure in football. We are choosing the right personality to partner with us.

” His commitment to excellence and his work to improve the sporting talent of the next generation of athletes made him the perfect choice for us. It’s a new dawn for Moonluck FC and hopefully his name will open a lot of doors for  us.

“As role model to most of these up coming players, he would definitely inspire and bring out the best in them. He is a great Nigeria football legend,  I’m proud and so happy to bring him on board.”

In his response, the ex Polonia Warsaw and Aris Salonika midfield sensation expressed gratitude to Chief Onwuzulike for making him Moonluck ambassador.

“I am equally pleased to be here today. I’m honored, humbled and looking forward to this new journey. I thank Chief Collins Onwuzulike for the trust and confidence that he has reposed in me and for the new challenge,” the defunct Jasper United captain said.

“You can see the kind of passion the Chairman has for football. I will do everything within my power in order to take this club to greater height just like I had done in the past for other football clubs in the country,” he added.

As Moonluck Football Academy ambassador, Ekwueme who is the sole representative of TICO/SELECT in African region will assist to scout for talents, be part of processes to restructure the academy, supply them with quality SELECT sporting equipment as well as mentor the youngsters.

Shortly after the brief but colourful ceremony, Ekwueme presented SELECT branded balls, towels, whistles as well as jerseys  to the club and vowed to do more in the near future.

Ekwueme was a key member of the Super Eagles squad that won bronze at the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia.
