Super Eagles captain to their first ever FIFA World Cup, USA ’94, Peter Rufai, also fondly called by fans and colleagues as Dodo Manyana, is 54 today.

The goalkeeper, who won 65 caps for Nigeria before retiring from international football in 1998 after his second world cup with the team, was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the African Cup Of Nation in Tunisia in 1994.

In 1998, Rufai was invited to become King in Idimu, Lagos after his father, the former king, died. He turned the offer down to continue his football career with Deportivo La Coruna.

Rufai competed professionally in Belgium, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain, in a senior career that lasted twenty years.

Here are some of the messages for the former Nigerian international.
