Charly Boy, others storm foreign affairs ministry in chains to protest slave trade in Libya

A pressure group, Our Mumu Don Do, has taken its protest to the ministry of foreign affairs

The movement is led by musician turned activist, Charles Oputa a.k.a Charly Boy and social media influencer, Deji Adeyanju

Members of the OurMumuDonDo group on Monday, December 4, stormed the ministry of foreign affairs to protest the ongoing slave trade of Africans in Libya.

The group members led by popular musician and television presenter, Charles ‘Charly Boy’ Oputa were at the ministry in chains and duct tapes.

Speaking at the protest, the co-convener of the OurMumuDonDo group, Deji Adeyanju said the aim of the protest is for the ministry to intimate Nigerians on efforts made by the federal government to ensure that Nigerians trapped or being traded in Libya are brought back.

He said while the group is aware that the federal government cannot prevent Nigerians from migrating to any part of the world, it is important that the ministry work effortlessly to ensure that the value of the life of every Nigerian is sacrosanct.

Also decrying the rate at which Nigerians are living the country, a member of the group, Dare Ariyo, said an emergency meeting with the African Union and other international agencies must be convened by the government to ensure an end to the slavery of Africans in Libya.

Meanwhile, distressed Nigerians in Libya can now contact the nation’s mission in Tripoli for assistance through some emergency numbers and email addresses provided by the federal government.
