Glo-sponsored African Voices celebrates Beauty Merchant, Chocolatier

African Voices Changemakers, the 30-minute magazine programme sponsored by Globacom on CNN International, will showcase two burgeoning entrepreneurs in this weekend’s edition.

 

The two creative minds who will feature on the show include Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Alaffia Beauty Company, Togolese- American, Olowo-n’djo Tchala and a Chocolatier from Côte d’Ivoire, Axel-Emmanuel Gbaou.

 

With an estimated turnover of $50 million, Alaffia makes personal care brands using local shea butter, coconut oil and other local beauty ingredients. It promotes women empowerment not only in Togo, but on African continent.

The company became an instant success, joining consultative committee on African in 2018, followed by an Award the same year, for Corporate Excellence from the US States Secretary of State, under the “Women’s economic empowerment” category.

 

The second guest, Gbaou is a holder of Master’s degree in Public Law and Political Science as well as Taxation. He is very passionate about processing of cocoa beans into delicacies and chocolates. In order to gain knowledge on his passion, he went to acquire knowledge from an Abidjan-based Ivorian chocolatier.

 

From the banking hall, he moved on to become a professional chocolate maker. Operating from his mother’s kitchen, the venture became successful overtime with Gbaou becoming the Champion of Côte d’Ivoire and later Vice-Champion of Africa. He later crowned it with the Alassane Ouattara Prize for Young Entrepreneurs, Super Laureate.

 

An interesting time await viewers of the programme which comes up on DSTV Channel 401 on Saturday at 8.30 a.m, with repeat  broadcasts on Sunday at 4.30 a.m., 7.30 a.m., 12.30 p.m., 7.30 p.m. and on Monday at 5.30 a.m.
