Guard killed as armed robbers invade Oyo community

Suspected armed robbers on Friday night invaded Moniya area of Ibadan, in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State.

The hoodlums were said to have made attempts to break into some buildings but were repelled.

The armed robbers were however said to have gone to a petrol station in the area where they killed a security guard by smashing him in the head.

On Saturday morning, the guard, Isa Yisahu, was reportedly found dead with bloodstains on his body and the ground. A wooden object said to have been used to break his head was found beside him.

It was gathered that some residents had earlier engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and were able to repel their attack. The resistance by the armed residents was said to have forced the armed robbers to retreat and storm the petrol station where they killed the security guard on duty and carted away some valuable property.

The guard’s corpse was said to have been found at the garage section of the petrol station. Punch
