Harry Kane trains ahead of Tottenham’s clash against Real Madrid

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino is “very confident” Harry Kane will be fit to face Real Madrid at Wembley on Wednesday night.

The England forward missed Saturday’s loss to Manchester United with the hamstring injury he picked up during the 4-1 defeat of Liverpool at Wembley.

But he has now returned to training and is poised to return against Real, although he will need to be assessed ahead of the match.

Pochettino said: “We are very confident. He is on the list, we have one day more to assess him.

“I think maybe it can be possible he will be available to play tomorrow, but I don’t want to be 100 per cent sure about that decision, because we have one day more.

“Today and yesterday were good in training. Now with the medical staff, we will try to make the right decision, because it is important to make the right decision for tomorrow.”

Asked if playing Kane could be construed as a risk, Pochettino said: “He was training with the group and was good, the same level as the team.

“We must know now, the feeling from him today, after tonight, how he is going to feel, and then to take the best decision for him, first of all, and then for the team.”

The return of Kane would be very welcome for Spurs, who have followed the emphatic defeat of Liverpool with a Carabao Cup defeat to West Ham and the 1-0 loss at Old Trafford.

Spurs are ahead of Real Madrid on goal difference at the top of Champions League Group H, both sides having won two and drawn one of their matches. skysports.com
