Help: Five-year-old girl with eye tumour needs N600,000 for surgery

Tope Babatunde

For many kids, childhood is a period of unwavering buzz with little or no worries. But for five-year-old Tope Babatunde, it is a moment replete with pain and loneliness. An eye tumour has weighed her down and deprived her of childhood fun her mates enjoy.

Her father, Segun Bababtunde, who lives in Igara, Edo State, told Sunday PUNCH that the tumour started growing when she was three years old.

He said many times, the little girl cried of pain from the lump.

The father stated, “The tumour started when she was three years old and we took her to a hospital. They were giving her medication but it continued to grow. The doctor then told us she had to undergo a surgery and that it will cost N600,000.”

Segun, a bricklayer, said he had made all efforts to raise the sum to no avail, appealing to Nigerians to come to the family’s aid.

He added, “It is even difficult for the family to feed. I am a bricklayer while my wife sells pepper, we don’t have the means to get N600,000 for the surgery. She always cries of pain and she hardly plays.”

Donations for Tope’s treatment can be made to the Zenith Bank account: 2265627569 with the name Akinseli Oluwabunmi. Punch
