Home Eagles Midfielder Ashade Out Of NPFL Invitational Over Ankle Injury

Home – based Super Eagles midfielder, Destiny Ashade, will play no part for the CHAN 2018 bound team at the ongoing 2017 Nigeria Professional Football League Invitational tournament in Kano due to an ankle ligament injury, Completesportsnigeria. com reports.

The injury has further cast doubt on Ashade’s participation at the African Nations Championship due to kick off in Morocco on January 13.

Ashade who was one of the stars of the NPFL last season sat out the home- based Super Eagles’ training sessions on Monday and Tuesday at the Sani Abacha Stadium as a result of the injury.

He picked up the injury during Katsina United’s pre-season game against Wikki Tourists at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano.

The 22-year- old who was part of the team that came second at the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations in Ghana, is the second player to be ruled out of the invitational tournament following Enyimba winger Joseph Osadiaye’s withdrawal from the squad due to a knee injury.

Osadiaye had since been replaced by El-Kanemi Warriors youngster Nura Mohammed.

It remain to be seen if head coach of the team Salisu Yusuf will also name a replacement for Ashade. completesportsnigeria.com
