Idris Elba weds in Morocco

Idris Elba has married Sabrina Dhowre.

The couple, who got engaged last year (18), tied the knot in a stunning ceremony at the Ksar Char-Bagh hotel in Marrakesh, Morocco on Friday (26Apr19).

Editors at British Vogue announced the news on Twitter and Instagram on Saturday morning alongside a series of exclusive images.

“Congratulations to newlyweds #IdrisElba and #SabrinaDhowre who exchanged vows in Morocco on April 26 2019. Celebrations were spread over three days in Marrakech. See more in the world exclusive in the July 2019 issue of #BritishVogue,” the snaps were captioned.

Sabrina opted for two custom-made dresses by American designer Vera Wang for her big day – an off-the-shoulder gown for the ceremony and a pearl embroidered number for the reception – while Idris looked dapper in a bespoke suit by Ozwald Boateng.

Make-up artist to the stars Charlotte Tilbury was on hand to create the 29-year-old’s wedding day look, and her hair was perfectly tousled by Luana Babbi.

One of the photographs shows the happy couple passionately embracing just after they exchanged vows, while another sees the Luther star gazing adoringly at his new wife.

According to the fashion bible, Idris and his former beauty queen wife held a Colours of the Souk-themed dinner on Thursday, before their extravagant nuptials.

The three-day celebrations are set to continue on Saturday with an all-white party at the Mandarin Oriental hotel.

The 46-year-old popped the question in February last year and was seen getting down on bended knee ahead of a screening of his film Yardie at a cinema in London.

Idris met Sabrina in Canada in 2017 while filming The Mountain Between Us. Speaking about their relationship, the Brit previously told People, “Falling in love while making a movie about falling in love is pretty special.”

This is the third marriage for Idris. He was wed to Hanne ‘Kim’ Norgaard, with whom he shares 17-year-old daughter Isan, from 1999-2003, and to Sonya Nicole Hamlin for a brief period in 2006. He also has a son, Winston, with ex-girlfriend Naiyana Garth. Musicnews
