Inter-state transport vehicles banned from going beyond Ojota

Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Steve Ayorinde

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday said inter-state buses and other vehicles along the Ikorodu Road would thenceforth not go beyond Ojodu Berger and Ojota motor parks.

The government added that transport operators on Ikorodu Road had been given seven days to relocate to motor parks at Ojodu Berger and Ojota.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Steve Ayorinde, stated this after a joint inspection tour of ongoing projects at Yaba and Jibowu.

He said notices to quit had already been served on the affected operators.

He said, “We will no longer allow inter-state buses on Ikorodu Road; they will have to go to Ojota and Ojodu Berger, which are the two designated inter-state motor parks. The inter-state transport operators in Jibowu will have to move and they have seven days to do that.

“The operators have not been tidy despite repeated warnings. Government can no longer allow such to continue.

“We are moving them where they really belong. There are major bus terminals springing up, which are all part of the overall plan.”

The Acting Commissioner for Transportation, Anofiu Elegushi, said the ban was part of the plan of the government to utilise spaces under flyovers.

He said government had provided enough spaces for the affected operators at Ojodu Berger and Ojota. Punch
