Jubilation in Iwo as Adeleke storms PDP primary’s venue
There is jubilation in the camp of the Peoples Democratic Party now as Chief Ademola Adeleke stormed the Iwo Township Stadium, venue of the party’s primary election to pick its candidate for the Osun West Senatorial District by- election.
Ademola, a younger brother of Late Senator Isiaka Adeleke, who represented the district at the Senate until his sudden death on April 23, had on Tuesday night defected from the APC based on the intrigues which characterised the process leading to the ruling party’s primary election.
Ademola, who was dressed in a white agbada was driven to the stadium in a black SUV amidst cheers from members of the PDP present for the primary election.
The Secretary of Adeleke Support Group, Alhaji Saheed Afolabi, had told our correspondent that the PDP would not conduct real election but affirmation since all aspirants had agreed to step down for Adeleke.
However, a member of the PDP told our correspondent that the party leaders are still pleading with a former senator to step down for Adeleke.
Meanwhile, the APC has also started its primary election at a venue in Egbedore Local Government but the venue is close to Osogbo, the state capital which is in Osun Central Senatorial District.
The APC primary is also expected to be an affirmation since Adeleke has defected leaving only Senator Mudashiru Hussain as the sole aspirant of the party. Punch
