Karim Benzema signs new Real Madrid contract with €1bn release clause

Karim Benzema has signed a new contract with Real Madrid, committing his future to the club until 2021.

The French striker joins Dani Carvajal, Marcelo and Isco in signing new long-term deals at the club and AS reports that his release clause is a staggering €1 billion.

“Real Madrid CF and Karim Benzema have agreed to extend the player’s contract, which is linked to the club until June 30, 2021,” read a statement on the club’s website.

The 29-year-old joined the club for a fee in the region of €35 million back in 2009. eurosport.com
