The Police Service Commission has dismissed a Chief Superintendent of Police for unlawful exercise of authority, discreditable conduct and for making false report.

The officer was said to have shot and killed an innocent citizen in Igbo Eze South Local Government Area of Enugu State and planted a gun on his victim, branding him an armed robber.

The commission, in a statement by its spokesman, Ikechukwu Ani, on Friday in Abuja, equally approved the reinstatement of a Deputy Superintendent of Police, two Corporals and a Constable.

These decisions were the high points of the 23rd plenary meeting of the commission, which was presided over by its Chairman, Dr. Mike Okiro, a retired Inspector-General of Police.

The commission also approved severe reprimand for a CSP and two Assistant Superintendents of Police for various offences unbecoming of their respective offices.

It also reprimanded one other ASP and approved that a warning letter should be issued to another ASP.

The statement read, “The rank/seniority of an Assistant Commissioner of Police was restored and two others, an ASP and a Sergeant were reinstated and retired.

“The commission also affirmed its earlier decision on reinstatement of a Sergeant and a Corporal and approved the promotion and retirement of an ASP.”

It stated that the decisions had been conveyed to the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, for implementation in a letter signed by the Permanent Secretary of the PSC, Mr. Musa Istifanus.Punch
