Lagos Water Corporation links Ogudu Ori-Oke, Alapere
The Managing Director of the Lagos Water Corporation, Mr Muminu Badmus, on Friday, said that the corporation has started Network Extension of Water Distribution to Ogudu Ori-Oke and Alapere areas of the Lagos metropolis.
Badmus announced this at the Stakeholders’ Meeting on the Network Extension of Water Distribution to Ogudu and Alapere.
According to him, the project will connect about 700 households and the corporation is expecting 30,000 consumers from the two areas.
“From the Ogudu roundabout, there is already a 2-diameter pipe, from which water from Adiyan will be connected.
“A bigger pipe will be connected to the 2-diameter pipe, to cover 26 streets in the first phase of the project.
“Some Streets with inadequate water supply will be connected to the new Network Extension, to enable them to enjoy the fully-charged water mains.
“Alapere will also be taken into consideration, so also Igboho and Oshodi areas along the axis,’’ he said.
Badmus said that upon completion of the project, the corporation expected the residents to protect and guard it jealously.
He said the project would be handled by Salini Nigeria Ltd., the Contractor that was working on the 700 million gallons-per-day Adiyan Phase Two Project.
Badmus said the residents should support the contractor for the success of the Network Extension project, adding that the same gesture would be extended to other parts of the state.
Mr Michael Ajose, LWC Head, Sales and Commercials, said the Installation of prepaid meters would go hand-in-hand with the new project, to control water wastages and encourage water conservation.
He said the metering scheme was a “pay-as-you-go’’ system and recharges could be made at LWC’s Mende Zonal Office.
Mr Paolo Capelala, the Managing Director of Salini Nigeria Ltd., said the Lagos State Government was set to bring an uninterrupted potable water supply to the area.
While seeking the residents’ support and cooperation for the success of the project, he pledged to deliver a quality job.
