MASSOB to FG: We’ll resist planned re-arrest of Kanu
Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, has sworn to resist Federal Government’s plot to send the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, back to prison.
The group said Kanu’s non violence quest towards restoration of Biafra Republic has never breached, truncated or confronted Nigerian or international laws. MASSOB also noted what it said was the hypocrisy of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government, accusing the government of double standard by keeping mum over the quit notice given to Ndigbo residing in the north by some northern groups. It said that the alleged setting up of Biafra Security Service by IPOB was just an antics by the Federal Government to give dog a bad name so as to hang it.
A statement, yesterday, by MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, stated that Pro-Biafra groups, including IPOB, were non violent and armless members that have no plan for arms struggle. Overall Leader of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu He said: “We, the people of Biafra, have never opposed or condemned the Arewa Shari’a police called Hisbah. Why should they get jittery of Biafra security consciousness? “Nnamdi Kanu’s non-violent activities towards Biafra actualization and restoration have never breached, truncated or confronted the fragile and inconsistent constitution of Nigeria.
“MASSOB warns that any attempt or plan to re arrest Mazi Nnamdi Kanu will be thoroughly and massively resisted. We can never tolerate it. It is an insult and embarrassment to our inalienable rights. Now that we know that our consistency and exposure of the hidden truths is dangerously frustrating, disorganising and killing the age long agenda against the people of Biafra, we shall never relent or surrender.” His re-arrest’ll set Nigeria on fire—ECA Meanwhile, the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, has warned that any attempt to re-arrest Kanu by those opposed to the restructuring of the country into six zones would set Nigeria on fire and alter the country’s political structure permanently. A statement entitled “Endless Mistakes of a Parochial and Ethnic-Driven Government,” by the Secretary of ECA, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu-Uko, in Enugu, yesterday, said: “The agenda to re-arrest Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, agreed by the political class, sponsored by those fiercely opposed to the restructuring of Nigeria and endorsed by those who hate our people with passion, will permanently alter the Nigeria political firmament.
This is probably ordained by God. “For close to two years, the world has been regaled by series of childish mistakes by the Nigeria government, as regards to the manner the Federal Government has handled agitation for self-determination. “The decision to re-arrest the most popular Easterner alive today in the belief that nothing will happen, is a very costly mistake, there will be consequences, from which Nigeria might never recover. “Arresting him in October 2015 was a big mistake. Denying him bail was another mistake. Executing his followers in cold blood in Aba, Onitsha, Asaba and Nkpor, a much bigger mistake. And now re-arresting a man who commands the fanatical following of millions of angry young men will definitely spur grave surprises for us all, head or tail, Nigeria will never be the same after Kanu’s re-arrest.” “The political leaders who are hands and gloves with the plotters of this decision, desperately want Kanu out of circulation, they claim he is a threat to their re-election.
The enemies of restructuring see him as a big threat to the sustenance of the current unitary structure, they believe Kanu has singularly created so much awareness on the need to restructure, that the whole world has come to agree that restructuring Nigeria is inevitable. “They blame Kanu for this and swore never to forgive him. Lastly, armed with only the truth, Kanu has woken up docile, indolent and ignorant tribes from the North and South on the need to demand a better deal for all in a restructured Nigeria. For these, the oppressor needs Kanu’s head by all means. “The fraud and falsehood of five decades has abruptly come to an end. Scales have finally fallen off the eyes of 196 million Nigerians. They want Nigeria to move forward, they want Nigeria restructured immediately. “Everybody knows that the initiation of a restructuring process, will automatically bring down the tension in the land. The born- to- rule; slave masters will never do that, rather they want to punish Kanu for instigating the quest and demand from everywhere for an early restructuring of Nigeria.
“They have decided to teach Kanu a lesson in order to pass a very strong message to agitators for restructuring and strike fear into the hearts of long suffering and oppressed masses who desire the restructuring of Nigeria. “They would rather set Nigeria ablaze by arresting Kanu than begin the processes of saving Nigeria through a consensual restructuring. This statement is not addressed to the hard-hearing Federal Government and its sectional defense and security network, whose minds are already made up, but just for the records and attention of the international community. “Any attempt to re-arrest Kanu, especially without arresting the (Igbo) quit- notice- givers, genocidal song writers and herdsmen-murderers will spell doom for Nigeria.
May the world never say nobody told them; those plotting the re-arrest of Kanu do not know how deeply divided Nigeria is at the moment. It will be a miracle if Nigeria survives this re-arrest agenda. “Finally, the oppressor should be told that nobody is deceived, the only reason they want Kanu’s head is because Kanu has done more than anybody else to bring Nigeria closer to restructuring, a credit history will not deny him.
