A governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, who claimed to have won the governorship primary held in the state on October 6, Uche Nwosu, has described the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole, as a man who contradicts the truth by speaking from both sides of his mouth.

Nwosu, who spoke with our correspondent on Saturday, lamented that it was unfortunate that Oshiomhole was elected national chairman of the APC “at this time when the party ought to concentrate on wining the general elections rather than being entangled in intra-party crisis.”

Nwosu who was reacting to the decision of Oshiomhole to substitute his name with that of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the governorship candidate of the APC in Imo State, vowed not to abandon his mandate for anybody.

He insisted that he remained the authentic candidate of the party, irrespective of Oshiomhole’s announcement that he had forwarded Uzodinma’s name to the Independent National Electoral Commission, as the party’s candidate in Imo State.

Nwosu maintained that his candidacy had been secured and could not be truncated by the national chairman or any other person.

He said, “My mandate is still intact, I still remain the candidate of the APC in Imo State. I am disappointed in the national chairman of the APC who is speaking from both sides of his mouth. As a man of that age I thought he would have been upright.

“I am shocked that a man, who we should look up to as our role model, has become somebody who many of us can no longer see as a role model. I am shocked at the attitude of  the national chairman which does not give hope to younger people who have been looking up to him over the years as a mentor.”

“I will not leave the APC; I still remain the authentic candidate of the party. I still have a valid court order restraining the party from submitting any other name to INEC. The order also restrains INEC from accepting any other name other than my name. The matter is in court.

“The insinuation by the national chairman that my ambition suffered a setback because of the ambition of Governor Rochas Okorocha is not true.” Punch
