Ondo APC: Kekemeke, others seek acting chairman’s removal

The embattled Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Mr. Isaac Kekemeke, and some other aggrieved leaders in the state on Wednesday called on the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, to remove the state’s Acting Chairman of the party, Mr. Ade Adetimehin.

Kekemeke was reportedly suspended by a three-man disciplinary committee over allegations of “gross misconduct and anti-party activities” and thereafter Adetimehin, who was the deputy chairman, was appointed as the acting chairman of the party. The national secretariat was said to have issued a letter approving the appointment of Adetimehin.

But the aggrieved leaders said there was no position of an acting chairman in the constitution of the party.

In a letter signed by Kekemeke and some other aggrieved leaders, they appealed to Oyegun to immediately direct the immediate withdrawal of the letter of appointment of Adetimehin as the acting chairman, “so that our party and indeed Ondo State will not be plunged into avoidable and unimaginable crisis.”

The letter read, “We have become aware of a letter circulating in the social media purportedly issued by the national secretary of our party appointing Mr. Ade Adetimehin, the state Deputy Chairman as the acting chairman of the party in Ondo State. The letter claimed that our respectable chairman (Oyegun) unilaterally ordered its authorship.” Punch
