The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission has endorsed the indefinite suspension of a Lagos surgeon, Dr Anuoluwapo Adepoju, over issues bordering on the death of one of her patients.

FCCPC said the suspension of surgeon was done by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.

The surgeon allegedly operated on a patient in Lagos in December 2018, which led to the death of the patient.

The Head, Public Relations, FCCPC, Ondaje Ijagwu, in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday said, “Every action whether interim or final that prevents the risk of injury to patients/consumers and or mitigates the pain and suffenng of citizens on account of injury by manufacturers or service providers is an important component of a larger effort to protect citizens.”

The FCCPC said the suspension was a demonstration that the system works and could endure, as well as to the benefit of society. Punch
