PDP accuses Okorocha of withdrawing over N17bn from Imo Govt. accounts in two days

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Imo State has raised the alarm on some alleged brisk withdrawals of over 17 billion naira from different bank accounts of the state within two days.

According to a release signed by  High Chief Barrister Charles Ezekwem,  Chairman of PDP Imo State, “between Tuesday 12th March and Thursday, 14th March, 2019, Governor Rochas Okorocha has made major withdrawals from Access Bank, Zenith Bank, Unity Bank and Skye Bank amounting to over 17 billion naira.”

The release further alleged that within the said two days alone, the governor and his “cronies” had also transferred and re-registered over 150 government vehicles to some individuals.

It added that government properties, including furniture and electronics in the Government House, Owerri were being moved to Ogboko, Ideato South, his home town.

PDP, Imo also accused Okorocha in the statement of moving all uninstalled transformers numbering at least 300 in the Government House to his personal home in Ideato South.

According to the statement, the incumbent governor has also embarked on mass recruitment of workers with their letters of employment being backdated allegedly to cause problem for the incoming government.

“We are aware of the rampant issuance of Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to family members and friends of the Okorocha family. The party warns those involved that they do so at their own peril.

“These massive and fraudulent looting of Imo treasury is in addition to the previous looting of Paris Club and the bailout funds and plunging the state into huge indebtedness.’; the party stated.

It therefore, warned financial institutions against collaborating with the governor in the alleged continued looting of the state treasury; adding that all such institutions would be held accountable. News Express
