PDP to Umahi: You fell for deceit

The Peoples Democratic Party has said the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, was deceived into ditching the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress.

Deputy National Chairman (North), of the PDP, Senator Suleiman Nazif, said this while standing in for the National Chairman, Uche Secondus, during the inauguration of Ebonyi State Caretaker Committee, in Abuja, on Monday.

He said, “It is unfortunate, what has happened in Ebonyi State. As governor, the people of Ebonyi, especially the PDP, worked extremely hard to make him win the election. Unfortunately, he has been deceived.

“And he has left the home that he has always known.  And now he is wandering.  And I can assure you and I can tell you that he will continue to wonder and wander until he comes back home.”

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated State Caretaker Committee, its chairman, Fred Udeogu, said, “I can assure you that Governor Umahi was installed by 100 per cent of us that are gathered here today.

“So, on behalf of our members, we assure you that we will win the state as we have been doing. We will deliver Ebonyi 100 per cent to the PDP.

Addressing a press conference soon afterwards, the leader of the State PDP Elders, Ambassadors Frank Ogbeowu, said, “We affirm our belief that it Is the turn of South-East to produce the next president of Nigeria.
