Photos: Okeafa-Magboro residents cry out as Ogun Govt abandons road for years … “We don’t know why Amosun hate us”

Disappointed and dejected residents of Okeafa- Magboro, Ogun State, an emerging community along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway have cried out to the Ibikunle Amosun administration to help put an end to their daily increasing problems and misery by urgently fixing their dilapidated roads.
Some of the despondent and angry residents, who spoke with DAYLIGHT.NG, on the condition of anonymity, said they do not know why the Amosun government hate them so much.
Painfully, their anger also stems from the fact that the Amosun government is currently fixing the road leading to the other side of Magboro, while conspicuously abandoning the one leading to Okeafa-Magboro, in the increasing worsening state it has been in the last two decades and beyond.
“How can a sensitive government come to a neighbourhood and agreed only to fix one of the bad roads leading into the community?
We have two communities here; comprising Magboro and Okeafa-Magboro, what separates both communities is the expressway. And both communities have been battling with bad roads for years. Only for the government to come and insist it will repair only the main road leading into Magboro, while the adjacent one leading into Okeafa Magboro is left in its very bad and deplorable state. This is the height of injustice.
Amosun must come to our aid, because what is good for the goose is also good for the gander. Magboro and Okeafa-Magboro are like twins, you cannot feed one and starve the other. Both deserve fair and equal treatment.
We are pleading with Gov. Amosun to come to our aid now and save us from this nightmare and unending misery,” posited a leader in the community.
Also speaking, another despondent landlord who does not want his name published, stated that they were tired of packing their vehicles at the bus stops and trekking home due to the bad roads leading to the community.
“We need help and Gov. Amosun must help us urgently. Every year, during the raining season, we suffer a lot because of our bad roads. I think our roads here can be counted among the worst in Nigeria, and we are supposed to have a sensitive government. Whenever it rains, we cannot take our children to schools in cars or motorcycles because of the very bad roads. Most of our children and wives had fallen into mud while riding motorcycles to schools and work places. Even, we the men are not left out. It is every day battle on these bad roads. We are also tired of buying new shocks for our cars every six months. We are really and truly suffering here on a daily basis. No roads for years, no light for decades. Enough of these unwarranted punishments on us? Okeafa Magboro is less than five minutes drive from Lagos, yet there is no sign of development here. It is a visible and fast growing neighbouring community to Lagos and not in the hinterlands or in a remote village. For how long shall we continue to suffer like this with our children?
We need urgent help from Ogun state government. They should include Okeafa-Magboro in the ongoing road construction project taking place at Magboro, we are the same community, it is just the expressway that separates us,” lamented this elder and stakeholder in the abandoned community.
Meanwhile, we could not get a response from the Ogun State government before publishing.
