Plateau, MFM Face Tough First Round Hurdles In CAFCL; Enyimba, Akwa Know CAFCC Foes

Nigeria Professional Football League champions Plateau United will face Cameroonian club Eding Sport in the preliminary round of the CAF Champions League, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

The first leg will take place at the Rwang Pam Stadium in February, while Eding Sport will have the advantage of hosting the return fixture at home a fortnight later.

Should they surmount the hurdle, Plateau United who are making their debut in the competition, will be up against former champions Etoile Sportive du Sahel of Tunisia in the first round.

Nigeria’s other representative in the competition, MFM who will equally be making their debut appearance, will face the second-placed team in the Malian League in the preliminary stage.

The Olukoya Boys will travel away first and host the second leg at the Agege Stadium, Lagos.

The Lagos side will play the winner of MC Alger and AS Otoho of Congo in the first round.

Former African champions Enyimba who are among the 10 teams drawn bye in the Confederation Cup will host the winners of the tie between Benin Republic representative and Haifa of Guinea in the first round.

The Peoples Elephant will travel away for the first leg fixture and will host the reverse tie at the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar.

Aiteo Federation Cup winners Akwa United, who will also be competing in the CAF Confederation Cup, will slug it out Hawks of Gambia.

The first leg fixture will be at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The Promise Keepers will come up against the winner of the Ittihad of Libya and ES Sahel of Niger in the first round. completesportsnigeria.com
