The cost of prising Neymar Jr from the grasp of Barcelona may have cost Paris Saint-Germain more than the Allianz Arena, home to German champions Bayern Munich.

According to Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, the German champions will never spend the 222 million euros that Paris St Germain paid for the 25-year-old Brazilian forward.

Rummenigge said: “We as Bayern Munich must have a different philosophy.

“Overall the Neymar transfer could cost even more than the arena.

“During the Neymar transfer, I asked myself the question what would be more important: Neymar or the Allianz Arena.

“I have to say clearly that I prefer having the Allianz Arena which is also more important.” Punch
