Tears as Nigerian father of three stabbed to death in Canada

The man accused in Nwonye’s death, Keeton Michel Gagnon, was arrested by police shortly after the incident

A Nigerian, Nicholas Ozoechi Nwonye was on Friday stabbed to death on a train platform in Calgary, Canada.

Nwonye, 46, was on his way home from Hersak’s lecture hall when the deadly attack took place, at 6:45 p.m. on the westbound platform of the City Hall LRT station in downtown Calgary.

Stabbed in the chest and abdomen by a man he’d never met, Nwonye, who just recently moved to Canada with his wife and three children from Nigeria, and was only four weeks into his studies was rushed to hospital, where he later died, Calgary Herald reported.

The man accused in Nwonye’s death, Keeton Michel Gagnon, was arrested by police shortly after the incident while he was trying to escape the scene in an eastbound train.

The 39-year-old suspected killer has been charged with second-degree murder.  Punch
