The Pussycat Dolls call Kaya Jones’ prostitution comments ‘false allegations’

The Pussycat Dolls have denied former member Kaya Jones’ controversial comments, insisting the band never operated like a “prostitution ring”.

Kaya, who recorded a few demo tracks with the band before leaving in 2004 to pursue other projects, sensationally claimed on Twitter last week (end15Oct17) that the group was essentially a prostitution ring because members were allegedly told to sleep with men on demand.

Founder Robin Antin has blasted Kaya’s “disgusting lies”, and now frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger and the rest of the group, who have reportedly reunited, have issued a statement to insist that never happened.

“The Pussycat Dolls has always and will always stand for female empowerment and sisterhood,” they said in a statement to The Sun. “We stand in solidarity with all women who have bravely spoken publicly of their horrific experiences of abuse, harassment, and exploitation.

“However, we cannot stand behind false allegations towards other group members partaking in activities that simply did not take place.”

It is not known which other members will be joining Nicole in the reunited band, but it’s been reported that Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta, Kimberly Wyatt and Melody Thornton are onboard. It is not clear if Carmit Bachar, who had already left the group before their 2010 split, will return.

Kaya came forward with her allegations after a number of women in the showbiz industry went public with stories about sexual harassment and abuse following the expose about producer Harvey Weinstein.

“To be a part of the team you must be a team player. Meaning sleep with whoever they say. If you don’t they have nothing on you to leverage,” she tweeted. “Yes I said leverage. Meaning after they turn you out or get you hooked on drugs they use it against you. Correct. Victimising the victim again.”

Robin told The Blast her allegations were “disgusting, ridiculous lies” and said the singer is “clearly looking for her 15 minutes” of fame.Musicnews.com
