Tico, Ekwueme congratulate Okowa

…On Team Delta National Youth Games win

The CEO of Tico Sports company, Tomak Kachmarek has congratulated Chairman Delta State Sports Commission, Chief Tonobok Okowa following Team Delta overwhelming victory at the just concluded 6th National Youth Games (NYG) held in Ilorin, Kwara state.

In an interview with Daylight Sports, Kachmarek described Team Delta’s performance as stunning and unprecedented, bagging a total of 114 medals- 60 gold, 26 silver and 28 bronze medals against second placed Lagos State that got 72 medals.

According to him, Team Delta’s feat was made possible due to Okowa’s commitment to sports development in the State.

“Team Delta’s big win at the National Youth Games has once again demonstrated that with hardwork, resilience and dedication, victory is sure. As you sow, so shall you reap. The state government has invested a lot in sports, little wonder they are reaping the fruit abundantly. .

“I am glad to be associated with my friend Okowa. We are ready to host him and his management here in Poland. We will give them VIP treatment and roll out the red carpet for them. They deserve it,” Kachmarek told Daylight Sports on Monday from his Poland base via WhatsApp.

Speaking in the same vein, former Super Eagles midfielder and Heartland FC of Owerri Sporting Director now Apex FC of Agbor Chairman, Ifeanyi Ekwueme showered praises on Okowa who is also Chairman of Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN).

Ekwueme commended Okowa and the team for it’s commitment and determination, which culminated in its unprecedented dominance of the games, emerging champions consecutively at all the six editions it debuted.

“It’s not an easy task winning the games for a record of six times consecutively,” posited Ekwueme who was a member of the Super Eagles squad that won bronze at the 2004 African Cup of Nations in Tunisia.

“For me it’s discipline and sheer talent that made it possible. But we have to give it to Mr. fix it (Chief Tonobok Okowa) because he gave his all. He spared nothing to ensure that victory was guaranteed. He is a go getter and man of vision whose winning mentality is awesome. I am happy for him and join all Nigerians and the good people of Delta State to celebrate this unique achievement.”
