Tinubu confers posthumous CFR honour on Taoreed Lagbaja

Late Lagbaja

President Bola Tinubu has conferred the national honour of a commander of the federal republic (CFR) on Taoreed Lagbaja, the late chief of army staff.

The posthumous award was presented during a funeral ceremony held on Friday at the National Cemetery in Mogadishu, Abuja.

The president said the late COAS was a trusted advisor and a man of prudent action who cared more for the country and those who served under him.

“Throughout his military career, his legacy of service will be cherished forever,” Tinubu said.

”As an eternal symbol of our appreciation, I’ve granted late Chief of Army Staff the posthumous national honor of Commander of the Federal Republic of Niger.”

Tinubu said Lagbaja was one of his “best appointments”, adding that he had an abiding faith in the capability of the armed forces.

“While we are saddened by his passing, we still celebrate his life. Thus, we must rededicate ourselves to the principles and love of a nation for which he stood. As such, I am filled with pride as a remarkable career of the selfless professional who gave everything for Nigeria,” Tinubu added.  Thecable
