Truck somersaults on Otedola Bridge, causes traffic gridlock

Commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway faced a morning of intense gridlock following a mechanical mishap involving a Mack truck at the Otedola Bridge on Wednesday.

The incident, which began as a minor battery failure, escalated into a total road blockage when the vehicle overturned during a private recovery attempt, dumping two 20ft containers across the busy highway.

The obstruction paralysed movement in both directions, causing a massive backlog of vehicles that stretched as far back as the Kara Bridge.

This came as the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has since successfully recovered and removed the containers, restoring smooth traffic flow. Punch
