Weeping as Fulani herdsmen kill six in Adamawa

No fewer than six persons have been reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Girei Local Government.

It was gathered that the incident occurred at about 2am on Thursday when the assailants stormed some villages in the area in what the police described as a reprisal. The affected villages were Tambo, Murposa, Bankam and Wuro Hausa.

One of the victims was said to be an aged man, identified as Baba Zibion, who could not flee due to infirmity.

Another victim, one Baba El-Nathan, was said to be blind while three others were said to be youths. Several other persons were said to have sustained injuries during the attack.

Two of the corpses recovered in Tambo after the incident were identified as wood workmen from Mboi, in Song Local Government Area.

But the Police Public Relations Officer, Othman Abubakar, who confirmed the attack, said, “ Based on our intelligence report, the attacks on Tambo and three other communities was a reprisal.” Punch
