Retired Super Eagles goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has for the umpteenth time poured cold water on rumours making the rounds that he would return to the national team ahead of next summer 2018 world Cup in Russia.
Nigeria coach,Gernot Rohr had earlier on expressed his desire to persuade the injured former Eagles captain to rescind his decision to retire as soon as he regains full fitness.
The Lille of France shot stopper had been sidelined since the past six months after undergoing an meniscus surgery he had towards the end of last season and is now fully recovered.
Ekwueme, a close pal of the Super Eagles captain however disclosed to Daylight Sports that Enyeama’s decision to quit the national team will not be rescinded if the comments coming from him should be anything to go by.
This is coming on the heels of Gernot Rohr’s desire to persuade the the 35-year-old to rescind his decision to quit the national team as he is not impressed with the quality of goalkeepers at his disposal.
“I spoke to Enyeama again and as usual he vehemently told me his mind.He said he was not even thinking about returning to the team.

Enyeama is very close to me and I have always known him as a very quiet but outspoken and blunt person. He says his mind the way he feels and does not care about whose ox is being gored. This is an issue he doesn’t like talking about. To him this issue is a closed chapter.I think his decision stands,’’Ekwueme told Daylight Sports.
Enyeama, it would be recalled announced his retirement from the national team in controversial circumstance last year after a row with erstwhile coach Sunday Oliseh.
