2023: Anyim first to declare interest
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant ex-Senate President Ayim Pius Anyim was the first to declare interest in the presidential race.
He urged political parties to zone their presidential tickets to the Southeast.
Anyim vowed to contest, whether the presidential slot is zoned to the Southeast or not.
The former Secretary to Government of the Federation spoke in Enugu at a consultative meeting where some political leaders drummed support for his ambition.
The meeting was chaired by Senator Theodore Orji.
-Anyim said the ticket should be zoned to the Southeast, adding that, if it is not zoned to the region, it becomes a burden on the conscience of the nation.
He said the next president should be able to rebuild, protect lives and property, revive the economy, create jobs and rehabilitate the collapsed educational system.
