2027: AAP accuses INEC of unlawful exclusion from party registration, threatens legal action

Amupitan
The African Alliance Party (AAP) has threatened legal action against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over its failure to register the party ahead of the 2027 general election.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Abubakar Sadiq, national publicity secretary of the AAP, said the party satisfied all constitutional and statutory requirements for registration but was unlawfully excluded from INEC’s final list of approved political parties.
Sadiq described INEC’s action as “an assault on the nation’s democracy” and warned that it would not stand.
He recalled that in a press release issued on September 11, 2025, INEC announced 14 pre-qualified political associations out of 171 applications, including AAP, and invited their interim chairmen and secretaries to a briefing at the commission’s headquarters in Abuja. Thecable
