Abuja market fire: Weeping as five feared dead, others injured

At least, five persons have reportedly died from a late night fire that gutted a section of the popular Kubwa ultra-modern market in Abuja.

Though the identities of the deceased were not immediately known when filing this report, at least two others were said to have sustained serious injuries from the inferno.Remaining Time 

While the actual cause of the fire which started a few minutes before 8pm could not be immediately ascertained, traders said it was as a result of an explosion from adulterated kerosene.

As of 8:45pm, fire fighters were still struggling to contain the inferno.

Fire Service declines comment over fire outbreak in Kubwa market

Meanwhile, The Federal Fire Service on Friday night kept mum over the outbreak of the fire incident in Kubwa market.

The Spokesman of the Federal Fire Service, Ugo Huan, refused to pick her calls when contacted by our Correspondent.

But a source in the Service said fire fighting men were already at the scene of the incident to put out the fire and prevent the escalation of the incident.

The Source said the fire fighters arrived on time, but parts of the market had already been destroyed. Asked to confirm if there was any casualties, the FFS personnel declined,  saying “as we speak our men are still battling to put out the fire, and no one can tell if there are victims yet “.

Similarly,  a WhatsApp message sent to Huan ‘s line was yet to be replied as at the time of filing this report. Nation
