The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Algeria in the quarter-final of the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The fixture was confirmed on Monday night following Algeria’s dramatic extra-time 1-0 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo (DR Congo) in the second round.
Adil Boulbina scored a pile driver late in the extra time to clinch the victory for Desert Foxes in a match that had looked destined for a penalty shootout.
Nigeria thrashed Mozambique 4-0 in their second round tie on Monday. The quarter-final match will be a clash between the Eagles, the best attack in the competition with 12 goals, and Algeria, the best defence with just one goal conceded in four games. Thecable
