After mother’s burial, ICPC takes El-Rufai into custody

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, was on Tuesday returned to the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, following the stalled court proceedings of his bail application in Kaduna.

The court, however, adjourned until today (Wednesday), April 1, 2026, for the hearing of the application.

The adjournment followed a series of fresh motions and legal exchanges between the prosecution and defence at the Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna.

At the proceedings before Justice Rilwan Aikawa on Tuesday, the prosecution filed its counter-affidavit to the bail application, leaving the defence with limited time to respond. Punch
