Tension has gripped residents of Owahwa and Okwagbe communities in the Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State as fresh boundary dispute between the two neighbouring communities claimed five lives.

Witnesses said the deaths were recorded following sporadic shootings that erupted between the two communities on Thursday.

Though details of what led to the communal clash were sketchy still sketchy, local sources attributed it to the long-standing agitations of ownership of boundary land.

It was gathered that the two communities which shared boundary have been coexisting peacefully until recently.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the clash, but declined the number of casualties. Punch
