Again four-storey building collapses in Lagos…Many feared dead

A four-storey building at No 3 Massey Street, Lagos Island collapsed on Tuesday. The incident was said to have occurred at about 3pm, with rescue operators battling to rescue the trapped victims among which were children, from out of the debris.

Vanguard gathered that the affected building owned by Kafo’s family, was initially a three storey building before an additional one storey was added. As at 7.30pm, 11 victims according to the General Manager, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Adesina Tiamiyu , had so far been rescued .

Among them were children. The cause of the collapse could not be immediately ascertained as rescue operators among who were officials of LASEMA, Lagos State Fire Service, National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, Red Cross and policemen, were keen on rescuing trapped victims.
