Again, gunmen attack Katsina community, kill four
Gunmen suspected to be bandits on Monday night attacked Tsayau community, Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina state, where they killed four people and abducted several others.
It was learnt that the gunmen arrived the community on motorcycles late in the night and started to raid the community.
A resident who pleaded for anonymity said, “The gunmen were moving from house to house and dispossessing people of belongings including their animals.”
Residents also revealed that some of them escaped from the community and took refuge in the nearby forest throughout the night.
The lawmaker representing Jibia Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Mustapha Yusuf also confirmed the incident to newsmen in Katsina.
The spokesman for the Katsina police command, Gambo Isah, however, said he should be given time to clarify the genuiness of the incident from the DPO in the area.He had not yet call back as at Monday evening.
It would be recalled that angry youths in Yatumanki ,Danmusa Local Government Area of the state, barricaded Katsina/Funtua road early Monday morning in protest against incessant bandits attacks and general insecurity in the area.
The development made many travellers plying the highway to be stranded for hours before the intervention of security operatives who cleared the barricade. Punch
