Again, Transmission Company of Nigeria fails to wheel 1,194.08MW in 24 hours

Of the 108,954.57 megawatts (MW) energy that was generated on October 29, 2022, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) evacuated 107,760.49MW, leaving 1,194MW (about 1.09 per cent) stranded, The Nation has learnt.

The System Operator (SO) of the TCN, which announced this on its “24 hours Grid Performance Dashboard,” said on the day under review, the peak energy generation was 4,728MW, while lowest energy generation was 4247.50MW at the lowest and highest frequencies of 49.29Hz and 50.32Hz respectively.

Also, in another document, which The Nation obtained, titled: “List of GenCos and MW Load at 10:00 hours of 30th October, 2022,” the SO revealed that 21 GenCos produced 4,170.60MW.

According to the document, with two units Afam IV & V (Gas) produced 155MW, Alaoji NIPP (Gas) generated 92MW with one unit while Azura Edo produced 376MW with three units.

It also noted that Dandikowa GS (Hydro) generated 36MW with two units, Delta (Gas) produced 443MW with nine units and Egbin (Steam) generated 337MW with two units.

The document said Geregu (Gas) produced 123MW, Geregu NIPP (Gas) generated 123MW with one unit while Ihovbor NIPP (Gas) produced 90.80MW with two units, and Jebba (Hydro) generated 378MW with four units.

The SO added that Kainji (Hydro) produced 312MW with four units, as Odukpani NIPP (Gas) generated 271MW with three units and also with three units Okpai (Gas/Steam) produced 304MW.

According to the data, Olorunsogo (Gas) produced 65.30MW with two units, Omoku (Gas) generated 46.20MW with three units as Omotosho (Gas) produced 198MW with six units.

The document further noted that Omotosho NIPP (Gas) generated 96.50MW with one unit, and Paras Energy (Gas) produced 47.70MW with seven units. Nation
