Two suspected cult members have been killed in a bloody clash between two rival groups in some parts of Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

The clash, which occurred on Monday on Samphino Road, in Kpansia and Biogbolo, Yenizue-Gene, all in the Yenagoa Local Government Area, led to pandemonium in the communities.

Although the reason for the fight had yet to be established, a police source said the incident was a show of force between two dreaded cults – the Icelanders and the Greenlanders.

“No arrest has been made. But we have a lot of their members in detention. We believe there won’t be any problem unravelling the cause of the clash and making arrests. The detained suspects will aid investigation,” he said.

Our correspondent gathered that one of the dead cult members was cut beyond recognition and the other was shot at close range.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Bayelsa State Command, DSP Asinim Butswat, said the clash occurred around 8pm on Monday.

He said, “Around 8pm, rival cults clashed in Yenagoa, which led to the shooting of one Jeremiah Uche, aged 26. Another unidentified man with multiple machete cuts in various parts of the body, was recovered at Yenezue-Gene. The deceased should be about 20 years old.”Punch
