Anambra poll: Amaechi endorses Obaze, Ekwueme’s daughter

A first Republic Minister of Aviation, Mbazulike Amaechi, on Saturday, endorsed the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the Anambra governorship poll, Mr. Oseloka Obaze, and his running mate, Chidi Onyemelukwe (nee Ekwueme).

Amaechi expressed optimism that the PDP would win the poll but added that it would be tough for the party to contest against incumbent Governor, Willie Obiano, and Tony Nwoye of the All Progressives Congress.

He octogenarian said, “This staff is for you as a symbol of my utmost support and assurance that you will be the next governor of Anambra State on March 17, 2018. I’m 89 and will be celebrating my 90th birthday on June 16. I want you to celebrate it with me as our governor.”

Amaechi said it was high time Anambra State reconnected “to the national political grid.”

He noted that there were only two parties in Nigeria that had national outlook, adding that Anambra had been an outsider to the two parties (APC and PDP) for too long.

Obaze thanked the octogenarian for his support, assuring him that he and his running mate, Onyemelukwe, would never disappoint the people of the state.Punch
